Strange Energy
I.
You flow around me
Liquid dreams, fluid energy
Fire burning, searing.
Eating away yet nourishing.
II.
Must I have you?
Must you exist?
A necessary co-existence?
Bound co-dependence?
III.
Your energy binds me,
While also freeing feelings,
Thoughts of death and hell
Paradise and ecstasy.
IV.
Foreign matter unidentified,
How can you be both
That black enemy
And a pure ally?
V.
Substance lacking,
Invisible to sight.
Still an excitement,
To the senses.
VI.
Here as a thief,
To remove me?
Come as companion,
To abide within?
VII.
As an unknown,
Is knowledge possible?
Can you be trusted?
How will I know?
VIII.
You are preternatural,
Simultaneously familiar.
Form or force,
Object or energy?
IX.
A singular assurance,
Is your existence.
We will go on,
As total strangers.
