Big Man
I.
Lording over the weak,
oppressing with power,
causing them to shrink
in submission.
II.
You feel like a big man,
you feel powerful,
you feel like the ruler
of all you purvey.
III.
You are none of this.
You are a weakling,
You are nothing, no one,
without the weak to prey on.
IV.
When everything is gone,
All good taken from you,
The tables will be turned –
You will become the weak.

I agree!
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it.
A lesson to be remembered ☺. Nice
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Sounds as if these words are for the republican party… (sorry for the politics)…well said man
Peace,

Well, I suppose it could be intended for them. lol Thanks for the comment!
There used to be big men who actually could stand up to anyone. Now the majority cower behind closed doors. How times have changed. A very insightful poem!
Thank you, Stan! Also, those who do put on the act of the big man often find themselves being cut down to size unexpectedly. Great to meet you!
My thoughts about the massacre of children in Pakistan–the despicable excuses for men that went in with their big guns against the innocent. Big men.
I totally agree. A weapon doesn’t make a man. It simply makes him more dangerous – especially in a case like that.
Very well written. Those placed in power often take advantage of those underneath them. Revenge is often taken out on the innocent.
You’re right. The adage that power corrupts and that absolute power corrupts absolutely comes to mind.
I love this. Everyone has a different image come to mind, all quite different and all easy to connect to the poem. For me, it was a bully. Beautiful work.
Thanks, Danielle! A bully was part of the motivation for writing this. You hit the nail on the head. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Really nice John! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my first post, really appreciated! All the best, J
You’re welcome and thank you for visiting and for the comment. It’s great to meet you!
It’s a really true feeling expressed in that poem. I think that men who call themselves big are exactly like how you have so artfully illustrated but those who sensible people consider big without themselves ever boasting or even acknowledging the fact are the real heros…..those who observe the world and make others notice things, with their deed, not their words. It’s a beautiful poem truly, and thanks for following me. 🙂
Thank you very much! Those who impose will by force are far less a man than those who can think for themselves and reason with others. It’s great to meet you!
Yes, that’s so true John…..It’s great to meet you too!
Strongly agree. May I reblog?
Thank you! I would b e glad for you to reblog.
