This Place

Rendered virtually,

voiceless and thoughtless,

subdued and laid bare,

pride lobotomized,

abandoned by friends.

For all this place has,

ever given me,

it countered equally,

by taking away.

About John White

I've written off and on my entire life. It took years for me to finally take putting words together seriously. Now it's not, nor does it ever feel, like work. Writing daily has become habitual. No day is complete without words having appeared on the page.

Funny. I thought of FB too.

  2. I nominated you for a Liebster Award. It’s just a neat little way to get to know people, and think about life. https://amusewholikestomuse.wordpress.com/2015/04/13/liebster-award/

  3. Life is cyclical… Things come then they go. Such is the case with Fads, Friends, Money, Love and even ‘life’ in and of itself! Patience, courage and hope/faith are the tools needed to see us through to the next phase/cycle. Press on…

  4. I thought you were talking about your marriage. I hope you’re not as sad as you sound.

  5. every place is this place, and this place is every place. who we are in response is key. β™‘

  6. Loved the lines “For all this place has, ever given me, it countered equally, by taking away.”
    An amazing thought!

  7. Intriguing writing, thank you for the fantastic blog!

  8. I know something about that.

    • I’m glad it was relatable. It’s amazing sometimes to write something, put it on the blog and then find that others feel the say way. It’s a tremendous benefit to posting my work online. Thank you! It’s great to meet you!

      • You seem to write a lot. I just reimagined myself as an blogger again and sat down to the task of blogging again. I have not done so in quite some time but then I do not think I was ever mature enough to blog when I sat down at this podium three years ago. I think the last time I sat down at this podium to blog I was much weaker in character than I am now.

Its good to meet you too. WordPress makes it easy to do such a thing. As outgoing as I am that could be a bad thing.

        • It can be a great thing. I got some advice from the poet laureate of our state last year. At the time I thought he was just telling me something to rid himself of me but, as it turns out, it was the best advice I ever got – read voraciously and write daily. Those two activities alone helped to spur me to write much more and to try things I’ve never tried in my writing. Best of luck to you!

  9. This one really connected with my soul. I think the place you describe is the place everyone belongs. πŸ™‚
