Species

we are nothing more and

no less than a species

living in our own times

hunting, foraging,

fornicating,

multiplying,

killing, being killed,

killing one another

the importance of our

lives is of our own doing

that dentist appointment,

the trip to the market,

the unpaid bill, the

un-filled gas tank, the

un-washed dishes, laundry

these are important because

we have made them important

we are still just a species

occupying our times

.

those times will end

we are seeing to it

About John White

I've written off and on my entire life. It took years for me to finally take putting words together seriously. Now it's not, nor does it ever feel, like work. Writing daily has become habitual. No day is complete without words having appeared on the page.

  1. yes, they will end, to some, a waste, to those who look within this is all just another experience to add to our journey… love and peace to you 🙂 Michelle

  2. What man creates man destroys, simple isn’t simple anymore,a nickel is not 5 cents anymore neither is a penny, people are effected by the change till they are allergic to the coins that man once made

    • We have the ability to do good and create a better world but we always seem to go to far and wind up doing damage and then that nickel is just a piece of metal.

  3. Our “Fleeting Supremacy.”

    Forcefully said, John.

  4. great one !! i find so much truth in the line “those are important cause we made them important” , it is something so obvious but most of the time we forget about it

  5. Either we evolve or devolve.. either way, the planet will correct… *us*..

  6. Stark but true. Unfortunately.

  7. How could I not like this post, upon the topic of which you wrote, I have to declare that you took the words straight from my mouth. Very well written, it was a joy to read.

  8. “We are seeing to it” sadly this seems to be true… Capable of greatness but leading ourselves (and everything around us) to ruin…
