The Lump

time and again I’m told

if I put garbage in I can

only expect garbage out

yet my mind craves a

certain amount of truth

mixed with some form

of entertainment

I must either feed the

monster or spend many

sleepless nights listening

to its many complaints

of boredom and misuse

I’m attempting a high-wire

act with this lump that

nature has suspended

there right above my neck

give me facts, figures,

reason, logic yes but

I’m afraid at some point

the lump’s appetite

for garbage will return

About John White

I've written off and on my entire life. It took years for me to finally take putting words together seriously. Now it's not, nor does it ever feel, like work. Writing daily has become habitual. No day is complete without words having appeared on the page.

  1. It’s just profoundly true. We need truth with some falsity!

  2. At times unavoidable and true, the garbage comes in. Yet, when it goes out, were clean again. Or are we if we’ve dumped it on the next soul?

  3. Don’t be so hard on The Lump. Actually it is a pretty amazing thing, the brain.

  4. Yes, the lump on top of our necks can present tricks of thought every day of our life.

  5. You’re a riot! But very true.

  6. Sounds like you’re in need of a good docudrama sir! Try Vikings! ;-P. As always, well written ux2! Always look forward to your posts.

  8. Absolutely rightly stated!

    You cannot lead a bull without the shit to follow. .. (-;

    I’m impressed, by the way.
