Another Body

another body

in another bag

when will mankind learn

when will we begin

to be good to each other

we are animals

but at some point

will we find a way

to stop acting like it

About John White

I've written off and on my entire life. It took years for me to finally take putting words together seriously. Now it's not, nor does it ever feel, like work. Writing daily has become habitual. No day is complete without words having appeared on the page.

  1. Maybe never, John.. 😦
And you know what.. it is almost like we malign animals by imputing bad behaviour in them. I doubt if they are as selfish or even as cowardly as we are..
    Good thought, John.. beautiful..

  2. Is the ‘succes’ we ascribe to our ‘potential’ really there, when we let it turn against ourselves and everything else in nature, I ask myself… are we, in fact, really succesful?

    • Thanks! 🙂 We’ve evolved as a species and we’ve learned so much about the world and space but we can’t seem to stop acting based on our worst instincts. There have been successes but it seems as if it’s one step forward and two steps back on occasion.

  3. Too true! The ‘human’ animal compares poorly with the rest of its family in the Animal Kingdom. 😦

  4. If we could only learn to start acting like most other animals it would be a big step forward. At the moment some of us are the meanest, cruelest, most vicious animals on the planet. Few are as calculatedly nasty.

  5. Sad. Our world has changed so much.

  6. Mankind is never learning this dear Sir. 😢

  7. Well stated! I read this as having a stop after each line rather than enjambment. The halting progress of the read reflects perfectly the uncertainty reflected in the last line, “Will we find a way.”

About rejections, check my blog post “So, What Do They Want?”

  8. I do;t see ‘us’ ever being a reasonable species ever again its all gone too far, Generations of lost and uncaring mentality will be the downfall but then we are not the first and won;t be the last.

  9. Beautifully put, this is something I often ask myself.

  10. Indeed. And the sooner, the better!

  11. I have hope we will get it together.

  12. Reblogged this on wwwpalfitness.
