I make no point

of ever making new year’s

they always seemed

stupid and pointless –

an exercise in futility

a few lies we tell

ourselves each year but

maybe that’s why I never

quit smoking/started running

it doesn’t explain why I

never ask out the pretty brunette or

faced all of my major fears or

sought after what I truly wanted

older and wiser (maybe) now

I can correct at least one of these

About John White

I've written off and on my entire life. It took years for me to finally take putting words together seriously. Now it's not, nor does it ever feel, like work. Writing daily has become habitual. No day is complete without words having appeared on the page.

  1. i know why i don’t..

    i never keep them…

  2. Classic illustration of human fallibility. πŸ˜‰

  3. Honestly, John, I suggest you quit making those New Year’s resolutions. Instead, give that pretty brunette a New Year’s kiss πŸ˜€
Issues on smoking and running could come in before the year ends. LOL

  4. i wonder which one you’ll choose to correct…

  5. Good intentions somehow manage to get lost along the way… not just at New Year either.

  6. Perhaps you have yet to meet the right brunette!
We always seem to hold back, knowing full well our time is always running short… Live big!!

  7. “At least one of those…” Can the three be separate, or are the woman and the seeking details of the fear? In Existentialism, regret is a “sin.”

  8. If I do make a resolution I always start it before the end of the year. My one for last year was to start a weekly blog. I posted number 42 this week-end.. It has been one of my better resolutions…

  9. That is funny and witty! New year resolutions to me are fancy. But we all know that there is hardly anyone who abides by them the whole year!!!

    • Thank you, Hasmeet! πŸ™‚ You’re right. We make those resolutions with the best of intentions and then can’t seem to get up off the couch to keep them. πŸ˜€

  12. Go for it Mr White! πŸ™‚

  13. I like, this hits so close to home

  14. Very good, I identified with this one…which is not so good…but then it’s not exactly bad either…lol
