Hanging On Every Word

empty sounds continue

coming from your face

nothing of substance

all one big cliché

a constant noise

but I’m hanging on every word

stupidity is pouring

from the magic box

nothing of substance

low-IQ reality

a constant noise

but I’m hanging on every word

an uncooperative organ

producing little of worth

nothing of substance

all jumbled together

a constant noise

but I’m hanging on every word

About John White

I've written off and on my entire life. It took years for me to finally take putting words together seriously. Now it's not, nor does it ever feel, like work. Writing daily has become habitual. No day is complete without words having appeared on the page.

love is deaf because we listen with the heart…great write

  2. Have you considered reformatting this into a paragraph format? It would be really streamof consciousness cool

    • Thank you, Christina! 🙂 That probably would make a good stream of consciousness paragraph. In fact, I like to write like that on occasion – just write anything and everything that comes to mind. It can be a great exercise. It’s great to meet you!

  3. Couldn’t help but laugh at this, thinking of myself staring at the TV, night after night, complaining about what I see… You nailed me here. Lol!

  4. One can sense the intensity of ‘hanging on’….tremendous commitment/loyalty to whatever and for whatever reason. 🙂

  5. very well expressed poem. Thank you for sharing.
