importance is a self-

ascribed entity

it exists only because

we determine in

our own, frail minds

the value we will

place on a thing,

a place, an idea,

a job, a paycheck,

a life, a death,

a word, a thought

nothing is important

unless we make it

About John White

I've written off and on my entire life. It took years for me to finally take putting words together seriously. Now it's not, nor does it ever feel, like work. Writing daily has become habitual. No day is complete without words having appeared on the page.

  1. eloquent expression of sage awareness

  2. This is a complete truth. Happy New Year, John. Wishing the best (whatever that means to you) 🙂

  3. I find that as I get older many things I once thought were highly important have now become totally worthless. My wife tells me I should get rid of a few things that she thinks have never been important…;)

  4. lol…have made this post important, so you get a like

  5. “It is the time you have wasted on your rose that makes your rose so important” – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

  6. Sitting having a M. Chapoutier Rose from Cotes du Rhone at California Pizza Kitchen of all places and thinking about one of my favorite 12-step slogans: How important is it?

  7. You are right. Everything is created in our very own minds. Whats real to you may not be for another person. You know?

With that being said, i think there are truly people out there who have come to this planet as a different ‘being’ in order to play the role of a messenger, complete tasks and things like that.

I have embarked on a spiritual journey just over a year ago and have learned so much. Yes there are entities or whatever you wanna call them that have been placed on earth to complete important tasks.

But its however you interpret ‘importance’. What does it mean ? Just like, what is reality ?
Its all got to do with individual perception and not only that, but to continue to explore and open up our minds and realize we are not all the same. There are shifts in realities therefore whats important to me may not be important to you, or even relevant or make sense at all.

  8. “Nothing is important unless we make it important,” I concur! Well penned.

  9. I never gave importance such importance before! Such thoughtful poem 🙂 Loved it

  10. Brilliant! I love this, John

  11. That is so important and true. We forget it too easily.

  12. Dear John,
Thank you for this insightful meditation on importance. A consideration is to identify with whom the importance is shared, and for what reason. New, rare or interesting and of local, regional, national and international importance are standard forms in floristic botany for flagging observations of interest for curation into the communal conscience of the geography of these natural resources.
    Kind regards,

  13. Reblogged this on wwwpalfitness.

  14. Just a few words and we all start thinking about our priorities. Great stuff!

  15. the last lines are wise, did something to my head. Glad you dropped by on my blog. Your poems are great!
