I’m Happy for You

you have found the one

and I’m happy for you

you have found your home

and I’m happy for you

you have found your family

and I’m happy for you

you have bound your marriage

and I’m happy for you

you have left me here

and I’m happy for you

About John White

I've written off and on my entire life. It took years for me to finally take putting words together seriously. Now it's not, nor does it ever feel, like work. Writing daily has become habitual. No day is complete without words having appeared on the page.

  1. This broke my heart to read. To get to unconditional love and really, truly experience that for another takes a lot of going within. A beautiful pull at the heartstrings writing.

    • Thank you, Reine! A hard lesson to learn is to be happy for someone when they’re happy even when their life doesn’t include you. At least that was my hardest lesson. It’s great to meet you!

  2. The ending though such sweet sorrow.

  3. ghostwriter999

Maybe it means something better is around the corner…

  4. I know EXACTLY the head space you’re in in this piece.

  5. Aww this is so sad, real and honest 😦

  6. Lovely Poem! I can totally relate to it 🙂
Yes, at the time, it is too excruciating; but as is said time heals everything, almost everything; saying from my personal experience.
And we have to keep hoping that there is something else better ahead! 🙂

  7. Difficult, i’m sure. To truly love someone, and be happy for them, without attachments…

  8. Hi John

C’est la vie, as they say. TIme moves on, life goes on. Touching and true, this piece!

  9. I am happy for you
    for you truly understand love
rather be the one in pain
    than have your love suffer
but there is a slight irony
    For the knowledge,
Love finds you as you know
so your love is looking for you.
    so be found

  10. This is so sad because this is what I’ve been going through all these months and I’m just so relieved someone could put it into words so beautifully heartbreaking as it is. Beautiful poem.

sometimes when you tell the world that you’re happy..deep down in dark there… you are sad.

    • That’s the truth. It can be unhealthy to hide that sadness. That has to be released. Some part of us can be happy for the person who found what they’re looking for but we have to be honest that we’re also sad too.

  12. it’s a very sad poem but you love unconditionally be blessed.

  13. Hi John,

It’s not easy to do it but this is what true love is all about. It is selfless. For this,BEAUTIFUL is the word 🙂

    • Thank you! You’re right. It’s the hardest thing to do to let go of someone and be happy that they’ve found happiness. I’ve found that we’re never too old to learn a lesson. 🙂

  14. Reminds me of Adele’s song “Someone Like You”

  15. I can relate completely to the words you expressed so well here, that bittersweet feeling. I wanted to ask you if this was personal, but I can see that it is according to the comments.

  16. This one was quite personal yes. A very long story of boy meets girl, girl meets another boy…
