Face It

You may need on more occasion than one,

To face up to gnawing, inner demon.

Perhaps you are guilty of wrong doing,

And you have to stand and face the music.

But the greatest and most difficult thing,

With which you’ll ever come face to face,

Is the truth.

First

In a singular moment,

When all time and space stood still,

This is the only first time,

That my lips will meet with yours.

Say It

It’s not so hard to admit,

When you are being honest,

Though it can make you feel weak,

And at another’s mercy.

The grim coldness of it all,

Its utter finality,

A heartless uncaring hand,

Taking you away from here.

Say it:

You, Friend, just like I, fear death.

Walk A Mile

The judgment that you have passed,

Is decidedly unjust.

You booked, tried, convicted me,

In this, your kangaroo court.

You’ve already passed sentence –

I will hang from your gallows.

Prior to my next hearing,

I make of you one request –

Please sojourn at least a mile,

In the shoes you see me wear.

Art?

It was once said this should happen.

Does what I write give you comfort,

At times when disturbance abounds?

Does what I write bring disturbance,

In your times of greatest comfort?

If so, it’s not because it’s art,

It’s because this writing is me.

Death to Life

I.

The awareness,

The sure knowledge,

That you will die,

Constantly there.

II.

Do not allow,

All of these thoughts,

To hold you down,

To turn to fear.

III.

Rather turn them,

To benefit,

As your fuel,

To live fully.

Darkest Night

This night has taken on a coal-black darkness,

No light has entered and no light has escaped.

A chasm of despair and impending doom,

I fear that this night may go on forever.

Love Displayed

You may elucidate your deepest feelings,

For the one you hold dear, who makes you complete,

With a touch of the hand, a stroke of the face.

Every emotion that wells up inside you,

For the singular heart that matches your own,

May be displayed within a kiss, an embrace.

But what can never account for your esteem,

Rather only exemplify blackness of heart,

Is hand raised in fury or words meant to harm.

If

If I must be here,

Let me make the most of this position.

If I must be me,

Let me stand apart as one of a kind.

If I must live life,

Let me distill moments to ultimate good.

If I must die death,

Let me spend my final day in love and peace.

Lies

Your mouth moves at a rapid pace.

The words simply seem to fall out.

This oral dance is impressive.

But you have yet to comprehend,

Twisted lies don’t turn into truth.
