Annum
Ding dong it is midnight.
The wicked witch will remain.
She will be marked in daily blocks,
As we leaf page-by-page,
Through hardware-store calendar.
.
Her evil spell will be felt,
Throughout the coming dozen,
The 52 repeated stretches,
From Sunday through Saturday.
.
A toxic brew which she conjured,
Especially for our benefit,
A blanketing pox under which we live,
Will cover the days we inhabit,
An inescapable, personal burden.

Wonderful, can’t wait!
chris
Thank you, Chris! 🙂
I’m not sure “like” is the right word for what I feel, but it was the only option. Lol! Better to say that I was moved by the well-crafted words, but a bit distressed by their content. But I suspect that was its intent…
Therefore… good job, John! 🙂
Thank you, Lisa! 🙂 Let’s call it a stressful time that made the coming year loom pretty large in the window making me feel like it may very well wind up being more of the stressful same. 😉
Oh..scary..an evil spell! Good one, John 🙂
Thank you! 🙂 Sometimes it feels like an unlucky rabbit’s foot has been placed in my pocket but I’m sure we’ve all felt that one before. 😉
I agree with Lisa, well crafted and a bit scary,,
Thank you! 🙂
Interesting imagery
Thank you! 🙂 It’s a pleasure to meet you!
Hmmmm…A political statement maybe?…There is a familiar odor to this witch…:)
Thank you! 🙂 That witch has had something brewing for years unfortunately but she’s been making a lot of appearances on the news lately too. 😉
Yes, we agreed some months back that the political scene would give us a lot of fuel to toss on the fire….:)
And the fuel keeps on coming. The tank is constantly full. 😉
Just think of all the methane we could get from all that garbage being spread around.
We could fuel furnaces and heat half the planet. 😉
Probably more than that….lol
Very likely a lot more. 😉
Reblogged this on Crazy Pasta Child.
Thank you for the reblog!
Came back to this a number of times, “a blanketing pox under which we live”. Bleak. But hey, bleak is just as valid as uplifting!
Thank you! 🙂 Bleak can be a real downer but just as realistic, you’re right. It’s great to meet you!
Likewise, John, keep up the good work!
🙂
Hi, John. How are you?
Would you break down the meaning of this post for me please? Thanks!
Thank you, Aleks! 🙂 It was something written just short of the new year. There were a lot of issues and problems to be dealt with at the time making the coming new year look like it might be a trying time. I was preparing myself to survive the coming twelve months though it felt like there was curse or at least a run of bad luck place on the year to come. It’s great to meet you!
Thank you for the reblog!
